The farmers
The people behind the paddocks — a hard working team of family and friends.
We farm with nature, not against it, using holistic management and regenerative practices to build soil health, care for animals, and produce good food for our community. We’re here for the long haul, working towards a resilient future for our family, our landscape, and local food.
Sustainable
Ag
We believe farming should leave the land better than we found it. That’s why every part of our farm — from our chickens to our soil, water, and business model — is designed with long-term sustainability in mind.
Our chickens are moved in mobile sheds across pasture, building fertility naturally and playing a vital role in our crop and grazing rotations. We plant and protect biodiversity corridors to support native species and improve ecosystem function. We use water carefully, build organic matter in our soils, and minimise external inputs.
Sustainability for us isn’t just about the environment — it includes economic and community health too. We sell directly to local customers, reducing food miles and building relationships between farmers and eaters. We share knowledge and work with other farmers and policymakers to improve farming systems across the region.
Birds & Bees
Creating habitat and harmony for our pollinators and endangered species.
We love our birds and bees — and they love this farm too. Over the past decade, we’ve returned more than 10% of the property to native woodland, creating vital habitat for pollinators and endangered birds. Our land now supports over 50 native bird species and thriving populations of native bees. It’s a daily joy to hear the morning chorus and see native pollinators at work. As proud ACT Landcare Award winners, we’re committed to keeping Majura a haven for biodiversity, where farming and wildlife can flourish side by side.
Education
Learning on the Land
Our farm is a place to learn, share and grow. We offer educational experiences for universities, schools, community groups, and both emerging and established farmers. From hands-on workshops to collaborative research, we believe in open knowledge and practical skills that support a better food future. Get in touch to explore how we can work together.
The Animals
At Majura Valley Farm, our animals are at the core of everything we do. From our happy free-range hens to our grass-fed sheep and cattle, each plays a vital role in building a healthy, balanced farm ecosystem.
Our hens roam on fresh pasture every day, scratching, foraging, and fertilising the land as they go, helping us regenerate soils while producing the freshest, award-winning eggs. Our sheep and cattle graze in rotation across the paddocks, improving pastures and supporting biodiversity while being raised with the highest standards of care and welfare.
Our animals are more than livestock; they’re partners in our vision for a sustainable farm that looks after the land, supports local food production, and shares the joy of farming with our community.
Alongside them, our farm is also home to a growing number of native species. We take pride in the green networks we’ve restored, which connect the foothills of Mount Ainslie and Mount Majura to the fertile plains of the valley. With over 50 native bird species now established, along with ongoing efforts to protect pollinators and endangered wildlife, our farm contributes to a thriving and vibrant landscape.
Produce

As fresh as it gets — straight from the paddock to your plate.
Our eggs come from happy hens who roam green pastures by day and sleep safe in custom-built mobile sheds by night. Their daily scratching, pecking and pooing keeps the soil thriving and the grass growing. It’s farming the old-fashioned way — with a modern twist.
Majura Valley Free Range Eggs are laid on one of Canberra’s oldest working farms and sold locally, including through our beloved farm gate honesty box. We’ve championed “Pastured Free Range” standards, pushed for honest labelling, and picked up an ACT Landcare Award along the way. Good eggs from a good place — no greenwashing, just grass and grit.

Grown with sunshine, soil and stubborn love.
Our market garden is small but mighty — packed with flavour and purpose. From juicy summer tomatoes to sweet corn that barely makes it out of the paddock, everything is grown in living soil, tended by hand, and harvested in peak season.
We grow with the seasons and avoid synthetic sprays and shortcuts. Just fresh, honest produce that feeds our community and supplies some of Canberra’s best restaurants. Local chefs are proud to fly the Majura Valley flag on their menus, and we’re proud to grow food that tastes like where it’s from.
Majura Valley Lamb — slow-grown, grass-fed, full of flavour.
Majura Valley Lamb, prepared by Bungendore Country Butchery, offers premium, 100% grass-fed lamb raised ethically on our Majura Valley farm. Free from antibiotics and hormones, our lamb is sustainably produced, low-stress handled, and expertly butchered for flavour and convenience. And yes, the sausages really are the best you’ll ever taste.
Majura Valley Compost — feed your soil, grow your garden.
Our compost is a rich, all-purpose blend of composted organic matter and manure, designed to breathe life back into your soil. Packed with organic carbon, it helps improve structure, boost water retention, and support strong, healthy plant growth.
Whether you’re starting a new garden or enriching existing beds, Majura Valley Compost works year-round to improve soil performance and reduce runoff. Over time, it loosens compacted soil and helps plants take up the nutrients they need to thrive. For best results, apply in early spring or autumn — and let the worms do the rest.
Majura Valley Worm Castings — tiny workers, big results.
Our worm castings are a premium, chemical-free fertiliser made from manure and organic waste that’s been fully processed by compost worms. The result? A fine, odour-free product packed with beneficial microbes that support soil health from the ground up — no worms included.
Safe for all plants (even the fussy ones), worm castings improve soil structure, boost germination and growth, increase water retention, and help regenerate tired soils. Use them indoors or out — as a top dressing, soil enhancer, compost tea ingredient, or in pots and garden beds. Just a little goes a long way.
